Beck

for saxophone, piano and percussion

Program note:

Searching for a title that could be related to Yorkshire where I was living during the writing of the piece and also be related to the meaning of the word stream, I decided to name the piece Beck which is a regional name for a stream or a small river in North England and also means gesture or signal. The idea of stream refers to the combination of the three instrumental lines, while the idea of gesture refers to the way that the piece is constructed as a combination of a series of short gestures articulated by different sounds but also as a single large scale gesture in six parts.

The piece was commissioned by Tzlil Meudcan Festival in Tel Aviv.
